Building WorkSafeBC-Ready Asbestos Safety Leadership Training

Problem

T&T OHS, a BC-owned hazardous materials consulting firm needed a Level 3: Asbestos Safety Leader program that could reliably prepare supervisors to plan, oversee, and manage asbestos abatement sites in line with WorkSafeBC’s certification framework.

Solution

SkildLabs developed a 3-hour, instructor-led Level 3 curriculum, including full curriculum mapping, and applied an AI-first production workflow to accelerate iteration without compromising rigor.

What we did:

  • Curriculum mapping: Mapped every module and activity to WorkSafeBC’s Level 3 competency requirements using the official curriculum mapping template

  • Case-driven learning design: Developed realistic asbestos abatement scenarios (containment planning, negative air, decontamination, waste flow, real air monitoring resources) designed to mirror on-site leadership decisions.

  • Practical toolkits for leaders: Created handouts, checklists, and job-ready references that support supervisors during planning, oversight, and site control. Google Nano Banana and Gamma were used to innovate the production workflow.

  • ChatGPT “Thinking” models: Used ChatGPT to pressure-test the competency mapping, build realistic abatement scenarios, and draft recall mechanisms (knowledge checks, decision prompts, facilitator questions).

Benefits

Regulation-to-classroom traceability

Every learning activity ties back to required Level 3 outcomes—making audits, approvals, and continuous improvement straightforward.

Faster iteration, more realism

AI tools enabled rapid content refinement and more lifelike worksite visuals, so learners practice decision-making in scenarios that feel like the field, not a textbook.

Designed for ILT and vILT excellence

The course structure supports live instruction, discussion, and peer learning through LearnWorlds’ LMS capabilities, making it ideal for building confidence and sound leadership judgment in safety-critical scenarios.
